Emerging Drugs

Description

According to National Institute on Drug Abuse and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, globally there has been an emergence of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS). Given the increasing availability and accessibility of NPS and the need to educate our youth, young adults, and communities about this emerging drug trend, Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC) prepared this webinar to help increase understanding of NPS and how widespread they are becoming, and the negative health impacts for populations most at risk.

This webinar will start with providing a background about new psychoactive substances (NPS) and how widespread NPS have become globally. An overview of nine (9) categories of NPS and their health effects will be covered. Lastly, this webinar will provide the reason NPS are becoming more common and which population is most at risk.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the emerging new psychoactive substances (NPS).
  2. Identify origin of NPS, how they are used, and how they affect the body.
  3. Learn how they are becoming more common and who is most at risk.
